process
- Hold On completed paper cut
- Hold On partial paper collage completed
- Chasing Butterflies initial drawing (1)
- Chasing Butterflies initial paper cut stage (2)
- Chasing Butterflies initial paper collage stage (3)
- Chasing Butterflies completed piece
The process begins with a drawing done in permanent marker (1). The next stage is to cut out all the negative space or in this case the white parts of the paper (2). The final stage is to paste papers on the back of the cutout to complete the image (3). What’s variable about the process is that sometimes, as in the case of Chasing Butterflies, I start the next stage before completing the stage before. Often though, as in the case of Hold On, I complete each stage before moving on to the next.
